Shoeboxes!

Well I gave my little presentation for Operation Christmas Child last night at church. I just love speaking in public--yeah right! But I did it anyway--gotta obey the Lord! I showed the new video, it is pretty good. You can see it on the website if you click on the link in my sidebar. There seemed to be some interest, so we should get a few boxes at least!

Collection week is November 11-19.

I packed one box yesterday to show as an example. I went to Family Dollar and spent 13$, including my plastic shoe box. With the 7$ for shipping, that is only 20$ to bless one child and share the Gospel! Come on, pack a box with me!!!

Hey Stef! I'm so glad you are getting some support for the shoeboxes. Keep up the great work...by the way...I love your idea about getting each of your kids 3 gifts for Christmas because the wise men gave 3 gifts to Jesus...that would prevent a lot of kids from getting spoiled!...that's good for your immediate family but i wouldn't want to buy 3 gifts for every uncle, aunt, and cousin!!!! That would be ridiculous! I think it's a great idea for your parents and kids to get them 3 gifts each. The world would be a better place if we followed that idea! Maybe that's why God allowed the wise men to give Jesus 3 gifts...to show us how we should be giving. Whoever came up with the idea that you had to get every uncle, aunt, neice, nephew, and cousin a gift anyway? Why can't we just bake some goodies and treats, fix them up in a nice jar, decorate it and then give them out to the family instead of getting gifts for everyone and going in debt just to please someone! Christmas should have never gotten to that point. It's about Christ and showing His love to others...but shouldn't we do that all year round? Well, it's just a thought. Maybe it will help someone! Have a great day...hope you get many shoeboxes filled!

your friend from back home,
A.K. :)

Amy, thanks for leaving me the comment, I was starting to think the comments were not working. I guess everyone is just too shy to leave one! About the 3 gifts--ha ha ha! I did not mean to say they ONLY get 3 gifts!!! My finances and their closets only wish that was the case! They get more from us but only 3 from Santa. I agree that gift giving for everyone gets crazy. I love making treats for people--too bad I am too far away this year.
Thanks for reading and commenting! Love Stef
