Ceremony

The TKD belt ceremony was last night. It was nice. We are so proud of both kids. B got her yellow belt and E skipped yellow and went to orange. They are both doing great.

Here are the pictures in totally random order.

They have already started working toward the next belts!

The snowmen

The kids did build snowmen in our yard, not just the neighbor's, so I promised I would take pictures and share them.

This one is E's. This is what the big snowball was made into. He didn't get to make it the way he wanted to because I made him come inside. He said I have to tell you that because it really wasn't finished.

This one is K's. She did it all by herself. It was about 10 inches tall.

Cute huh? You know I am talking to the grandmas right?

Snow day!

It snowed all day today!

Real snow. The kind that makes great snowballs.

Big ones!

The snow is beautiful. But these faces are the most beautiful things I have ever seen...

They worked together...

had snowball fights...

and made snow angels...

They got out of school early. They were so happy to have had a real snowday! They loved it. K has been saying she never made a snowman before. They did--but it was at the neighbor's house and I didn't get a picture of it.

It was a good day!!

True Love

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son,
that whoever believes in him shall not perish
but have eternal life.

Happy Valentine's Day

2/13/10

My valentine since November 5, 1985

I put a picture of us on facebook in honor of Valentine's Day, so I thought I would do it here too.

On Nov 5, 1985, one of his friends walked past me in the hallway at school that morning and said "Luke likes you". I just kept walking. Later, 3rd period I think, we had Geometry together and I kept looking at him wondering if he really did. He kept looking at me too. Then at lunch time I was outside, getting pizza from the Gino's truck. When I turned around with my piece of pizza and pepsi, there he stood, waiting for me. I remember I was wearing my pink Rick Springfield concert t-shirt and I thought my hair looked terrible that day.

I don't even remember what he said to me but we walked off together and ate lunch. I think we walked down to Joe's and sat together because that's where my friends were at lunch. I know we didn't say much to each other but that started it all.

We talked on the phone every night. Five days later he asked me "to go with him". July 1988 he asked me to marry him.

It's been 24 years since that boy said "Luke likes you!". 24 years. 3 babies. 12 different homes so far. 2 Army deployments.

He is my best friend. I love him more than I can even express. We are so much a part of each other that I can barely remember me before him-and don't want to imagine a me without him. I am so blessed to have him. I can't believe he loves ME the way he does, it is amazing. I hope we have at least 74 more Valentine's Days together.

Happy Valentine's Day!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sunday

In the same way , the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express. And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints in accordance with God's will.

Our week

Well first, I know it is Tae Kwon Do not karate. That is just more trouble to say when I talk about it and not as catchy as a blog title! The kids correct me every time I say it.

This week at TKD, they had tip testing. E got all three of his. B has two but she knows the third form now and will be able to get that one on Monday. B was worried at first when she only got one tip on Monday. She thought they would kick her out like she failed. When she found out yesterday that her friend who is a brown belt only got one tip this week also, she felt so much better. Seeing a friend in the same situation helped more than anything mom had to say!

Luke is still in Austin at a class and he has been sick all week. This morning he finally went to the doctor and found out he has strep throat. They gave him a shot and sent him back to his room until tomorrow. I hate that he is not home where I can take care him when he is sick. BUT I am glad he won't be contagious when he gets home!

We have been very lucky so far dodging sickness around here! I hope that continues for the rest of the winter. I know some people have been so sick this year!

The grade school is collecting for Haiti relief. K took 3 dollars and one penny of her own money to put in the jar. She is cute. She knows we are giving to Samaritan's Purse and Compassion International and she wanted to help too. But she said another kid in her class brought 3 dollars. I wonder if she brought the same plus a little more on purpose? Glad she is learning to help others, I just hope that was not just trying to show someone else up! LOL We may need to work on that...
