Enchanted

Today we went to see Enchanted Rock. It is a huge pink granite rock 425 feet high. That is a lot of counter tops!

Texas is beautiful in the spring. I have never seen as many wildflowers as I did today. Whole fields of bluebonnets. Fields completely yellow from flowers. I did not get pictures. But I got some daisies at the rock, they are my favorites...

Love these too

Strange shapes

Love this one. It's like he is saying he is on top of the world!

Love the views.

It was a very steep climb. My legs hurt!
But it was a great day. We had fun. Then we went and had bbq for dinner.
Nice Texas day...

Sunday

I will extol the LORD at all times;
his praise will always be on my lips.

My soul will boast in the LORD;
let the afflicted hear and rejoice.

Glorify the LORD with me;
let us exalt his name together.

I sought the LORD, and he answered me;
he delivered me from all my fears.

Those who look to him are radiant;
their faces are never covered with shame.

This poor man called, and the LORD heard him;
he saved him out of all his troubles.

The angel of the LORD encamps around those who fear him,
and he delivers them.

Taste and see that the LORD is good;
blessed is the man who takes refuge in him.

Fear the LORD, you his saints,
for those who fear him lack nothing.

The lions may grow weak and hungry,
but those who seek the LORD lack no good thing.

Come, my children, listen to me;
I will teach you the fear of the LORD.

Whoever of you loves life
and desires to see many good days,
keep your tongue from evil
and your lips from speaking lies.

Turn from evil and do good;
seek peace and pursue it.

The eyes of the LORD are on the righteous
and his ears are attentive to their cry;

the face of the LORD is against those who do evil,
to cut off the memory of them from the earth.

The righteous cry out, and the LORD hears them;
he delivers them from all their troubles.

The LORD is close to the brokenhearted
and saves those who are crushed in spirit.

A righteous man may have many troubles,
but the LORD delivers him from them all;
he protects all his bones,
not one of them will be broken.

Evil will slay the wicked;
the foes of the righteous will be condemned.

The LORD redeems his servants;
no one will be condemned who takes refuge in him.

Ag day

Today our schools had Ag day (just through 2nd grade). Ag is Agricultural. The two other closest school systems near us don't have it but we do--this is "out in the country". The kids go around to different stations and learn about different things.

K loves the baby animals...
There was practicing roping. She got it on the first try. Yeehaaw!

This was a game where the girls raced the boys milking and filling up a jug.

The boys won. The girls won the sack race though!

They talked about tractors and got to get inside.

They got to play in a cattle truck, got branded with flour (instead of the brand being hot), learned about beef, watermelon, soil and rain, and different animals feet. They also dug through hay, chased each other, pushed each other, threw sticks and bark, tried to fall in ditches on purpose, punched each other, dug in ant piles and tree stumps, picked flowers including bluebonnets, cut line, elbowed each other, and got yelled at a often. :) It was a very fun day. lol

It was fun for them. I tried to help K's teacher keep her class together and moving along. Mostly I tried to keep the back of the line moving and keep the boys from hurting each other. One liked to hold my hand and asked me if I was his friend. He was sweet, he didn't even mind holding my hand after the animal petting and digging in the tree stump. I just had to give him a hug when I left.

I admire teachers so much. Those little kids can be absolutely adorable and as wild and rotten as can be! Twenty at once. Sheew!!!

I am so glad I got to go. I am also thankful the rain held off and it only sprinkled a little (that was not what was expected last night). I love this little town where the kids go to school and I will definitely miss it and things like today when we move. I will also miss K's teacher-she has had her for two years and I LOVE her!

K also got to see her best friend from last year who had to chance to a different school. She has not seen her since last summer. She was SO thrilled to see her. Afterwards she kept saying how much she missed her and wishes she was her sister.

I LOVE getting to help out at school and go on field trips! I can't believe there is only one more month left of school!!!

Sunday

I think I could listen to this song a million times and never get tired of it.

So here I am, all of me
Finally everything
Wholly, wholly, wholly
I am wholly, wholly, wholly
I am wholly, wholly, wholly Yours

They make me happy

You can see some of these pictures on the blog header but I am posting them anyway. When I change the header again they will be gone. Plus, I like them and want you to see them better :)

Bluebonnets are the state flower here. Luke had been making fun of me for getting excited every time I see a patch of them. I admit that when we first got here I couldn't figure out what the big deal about them was either. Maybe it just means spring is here. Maybe it is just a Texas thing. Finally, a few days ago Luke said he had never really looked at them before but they are pretty. He is the one who pulled over beside the road Sunday so we could get these shots.

I could probably leave these on my blog header at least until we move because bluebonnets make me happy. Every time I spy I patch beside the road, it just makes me happy.

This funny face makes me happy too. He was sure that one of those eggs was lucky. He was wrong.
And this face makes me laugh. K does NOT like peeps. Can you tell?

Easter

The church we have been going to had a huge Easter egg hunt with great prizes this morning. They gave away cozy coup cars for the little kids, bikes for the middle ones, and an ipod and a wii for the older kids. That is WAY better than the chocolate bunnies they had when I was little.

The church service was great too. The worship was good. The sermon was really good. There were so many people they brought in chairs and still had people standing. And sixteen people were saved. Absolutely awesome!

Guess who found a lucky egg?

On our way home we stopped to take some pictures in the bluebonnets.

Hope you had a blessed Easter!

Easter morning

There in the ground His body lay
Light of the world by darkness slain
Then bursting forth in glorious Day
Up from the grave He rose again
And as He stands in victory
Sin’s curse has lost its grip on me
For I am His and He is mine
Bought with the precious blood of Christ

No guilt in life, no fear in death
This is the power of Christ in me
From life’s first cry to final breath
Jesus commands my destiny
No power of hell, no scheme of man
Can ever pluck me from His hand
‘til He returns or calls me home
Here in the power of Christ I’ll stand

Good Friday

In Christ alone, who took on flesh
Fullness of God in helpless babe
This gift of love and righteousness
Scorned by the ones He came to save
‘Til on that cross as Jesus died
The wrath of God was satisfied
For every sin on Him was laid
Here in the death of Christ I live...
