I hate walking on the treadmill. I don’t care how good exercise is for me, I still hate it and I can’t help it. What I do to try to distract myself is play my praise and worship music. I have said before how dangerous that can be though!
If I am good at distracting myself I can get totally caught up praising God. So caught up that I close my eyes and forget where I am. Luckily I have not fallen off the treadmill yet. I guess God is protecting me!
I was just listening to one song that gets me every time. I don’t even like all of it and I hate the video. It is In Better Hands by Natalie Grant. I only watched the video online once so I don’t remember it, but it was showing people dying. So, maybe it would be a song played for people who are gone, because they are in better hands now. That is true if they know Jesus, but it is sad when thought of that way and that is not how I hear the song.
It is about being saved. Being better off in God’s hands, giving Him your life, giving Him your heart. I am strong all because of You, it says. I stand in awe of every mountain that You move. I am changed, yesterday is gone. I am safe from this moment on.
One verse in particular gets me every time. What it does to me is remind me of how I feel about the presence of God. "It’s like the sun is shining when the rain is pouring down. It’s like my soul is flying though my feet are on the ground. It’s like the world is silent though I know it isn’t true. It’s like the breath of Jesus is right here in this room."—Wow that makes me want to just break out in tongues right there!! That is so true and I love it!
Be careful if you ever listen to it on the treadmill though. Especially if you hate exercise and you aren’t very coordinated. I was distracted though, so much that if the song had not ended I would have had to keep going past my 1.5 mile mark! But still, that is one song I just might have to save for when I am standing still!
Do you have any songs that do that to you?

Well at least you are doing better than me...I haven't been on our glider in a while...it's a great hanger for clothes though LOL...but probably be a good idea if I would exercise on our glider so my clothes will hang right on me! :) Even worse, I stuffed my face with pizza last night...i never eat it much but every now and then...but PLEASE BE CAREFUL STEF on that treadmill....I do believe there's a place we can reach as Christians to where our praise to God will get dangerous to the devil..(i'm not there yet):) but looks like you are, at least by putting your life in danger by praising and walking too! I've tried that b4 on the glider, getting caught up in worship so...yeah i know what u mean! hee hee....
hmm that song sounds neat...i like the part about your soul flying while your feet are on the ground. Felt like that a few times too... As for songs that help me get caught up in the Spirit....i listen to the same CD's until i'm tired of them...but I'd say that when I heard this girl Kari Jobe (she's my age i think)...begin to sing the "Revelation song"...that I felt God's presence so strong as soon as she began singing it. Check it out...i think you'd like her...Our bass player thinks I sound a lot like her! She has a young voice, and soft. I like it. How Great thou art by Selah really really makes me want to start shouting or something...they sing the verse in African which is so beautiful to listen to. Also Chris Tomlin's songs do that to me too, except the really head-bangin' ones...Be exalted is a good one on the Hello love CD. Sorry Stef...I gave u more than one song...i can't never keep something simple. lol...Everytime u ever send those questionarre things about your life, I can never keep my answers simple...I must have been one of those women who got the overly detailed side of the brain. You would like Kari Jobe... The song, No sweeter name is pretty too, and I know you are for me...but Revelation song gets me everytime!!! As soon as i opened it and listened to it in the car...i was like wow, it's anointed!!!! and got that feeling like my soul was flying but my feet were still on the ground, or in the car rather....Check it out. ttyl
your peanut butter pal,
A.K. :)
